Haris Zia, Senior Transportation Engineer at Abley, was invited by the Department of State Growth, Tasmania to attend the Road Safety Levy Workshop in Hobart on 28th September 2017. The purpose of the workshop was to explore options for the expenditure of Tasmania’s Road Safety Levy over the next decade.
Haris presented Abley's Infrastructure Risk Rating tool and its application in New Zealand for prioritising speed management opportunities. The presentation was well received by the workshop attendees, who agreed that speed management has to be included in Tasmania’s infrastructure programme to effectively tackle road safety issues.
The workshop was a great initiative by the Department of State Growth and Haris was especially impressed by the discussion on exploring new and innovative ideas that could contribute to reduced road trauma in Tasmania.
