Congratulations to Abley’s Dale Harris and Dave Smith, and NZ Transport Agency’s (NZTA) Sonia Pollard, who were awarded Best Technical Paper for Asia Pacific from almost 300 papers at the 23rd ITS World Congress held in Melbourne recently.
The paper shared findings from NZ Transport Agency funded research undertaken by the Abley team on the role of crowdsourcing real-time information to support the provision of traveller information and network efficiency outcomes. A custom-design web application was tested during the crowdsourcing trial, to collect and report on incidents such as crashes, road damage, snow and ice in the Queenstown-Lakes District.
Dale and Dave joined over 11,500 ITS experts from around the world for the five-day conference, which included over 300 exhibitors, the latest thinking on big data, telematics, and featured demonstrations for connected and autonomous vehicle technology.
