CPIT hosted a leadership forum for their engineering students and Paul Durdin was invited to be on the panel. Topics of discussion included the difference between leadership and management, different leadership styles and traits of a good leader. A great interactive discussion was held by the panel and students.
This week marks Road Safety Week, which helps raise awareness of the terrible carnage on New Zealand roads. The theme for 2014 is “Tune in to road safety’. When using roads, we all need to tune in to road safety and give it our full attention - particularly if we're at the wheel, but also when we're cycling, walking, skating, running, you name it - to keep ourselves and others safe. Abley has made a significant contribution in the road safety space over the years with the various project work we have completed. More recently we have developed story maps which show the top 20 high risk intersections in New Zealand and speed camera locations in New Zealand . For information on the development of story maps, please contact Kurt Janssen .
Those Abley staff brave enough to take on zombies were immersed in the theatrical experience Zombie:Red Zone today. Zombie: Red Zone is a play on steroids, performed in a purpose built, site-specific military zone. There were plenty of thrills and spills of the horror genre and the audience had to overcome challenges and grapple with their humanity in a decaying world to allow for the narrative to progress forward.
We are delighted to annouce that Colin MacArthur started with Abley at the end of April in the role of Associate Director to enable our continued and consistent growth in New Zealand. With more than 20 years’ experience in transportation planning, engineering, procurement and team leadership, Colin is establishing a new Auckland Office for Abley Transportation Consultants. This office will expand service to clients in the North Island and further facilitate the employment of exceptional staff in the region.
