Abley are excited to have Jay Baththana rejoin our Christchurch team as a Senior Transportation Engineer, after spending the last three years travelling the world.

During Jay's "big OE", he spent 18 months working in Sydney, Australia at GTA Consultants, delivering transport planning advice for a broad spectrum of land uses located within the CBD and western suburbs, including key project Jordan Springs Masterplan (Lend Lease Group). Jay conducted over 25 Road Safety Audits, prepared Construction Traffic Management Plans and Traffic Control Plans for various projects and provided Cycleway/Shared Path design advice to the councils of North Sydney and City of Canada Bay.

Jay also spent 12 months working in London at WSP UK, where he relished the challenge of working with local planners and architects in the constraint transport environment of London. Jay had the opportunity to provide transport planning advice on two major residential developments including Earls Court Master Plan and Wembley Park Masterplan (Quintain), one of Europe’s biggest regeneration projects with over 5,000 residential units, expected to deliver over 10,000 new jobs. Additionally, Jay applied his skills designing car parks for three new supermarkets in the city of Baku, Azerbaijan and provided transport advice on many other commercial developments in London.

Jay felt it was time to return to Abley to work with the great people and culture he left behind, and put his refined skills to use. He brings considerable experience in transport planning and engineering to the team and is very happy to be "home".
