Ravindu (Rav) is a senior transportation engineer at Abley. While Rav sits within the Strategy and Planning team at Abley, his work spans across multiple business delivery areas.
Rav has experience and skills in road safety audits, network operating plans, business cases and strategy development, speed management, parking strategies, integrated transport assessments for developments and parking supply and demand modelling.
About Rav
Rav graduated from University of Canterbury, completing a Bachelor of Engineering with Honours in Civil Engineering in 2015. After graduating, Rav worked for Auckland Transport as a graduate engineer for a short period where his work was focused around designing infrastructure for Public Transport. Rav was involved in several bus lane and bus stop designs during his time at AT.
Rav joined the Abley team in the latter half of 2016. Rav’s main focus during the first two years of his career at Abley has been land development, where he was involved in providing traffic and transportation input to both government and private clients for a wide range of developments. Rav is well capable of applying his experience and skills in the land development area to ensure that the interests of private clients are met while achieving safe and sustainable outcomes that align with the objectives and policies of respective authorities.
Rav also has experience in assessing the road safety impacts of digital billboards which are increasingly becoming commonplace on New Zealand roads. He has helped private sector clients to obtain consent and has peer reviewed several billboard studies for road controlling authorities.
During the more recent times Rav has focused on strategic transporting planning, primarily on Networking Operating Frameworks. Rav has had a lead technical role in two Network Operating Frameworks that Abley delivered in 2019/ 20.
