Wendy has worked in New Zealand as a Transportation Engineer after she graduated with a Bachelor in Civil Engineering (Hons) at University of Canterbury. She was involved in a range of transportation projects where she has gained experience in traffic data collection, data analysis, transport planning, and transport modelling.
What made you decide to become a Transportation Engineer?
I started studying quantity surveying but soon realised I am more interested in civil engineering. I then came to New Zealand to study civil engineering and transportation was my favourite subject.
What did you do before joining Abley?
I was a Transportation Engineer at another consultancy firm, working on a range of transportation projects which involved transportation engineering and modelling.
What does a typical day in the office include?
I could be working on various tasks in a day. These include data analysis, reviewing standards, and writing reports.
What do you enjoy most about your job?
I like my job because I get to work on a variety of projects, and working in a supportive team at Abley is a bonus!
What’s the most challenging thing about your job?
I am constantly learning in my job which is challenging and rewarding at the same time.
What’s been your career highlight so far?
I have had the opportunity to work on local and international transportation projects.
What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?
Catching up with friends, watching movies, and shopping.
