Michael recently graduated with a ME in Transportation from the University of Canterbury. Since joining Abley Transportation Engineers in May 2007, he has worked with both private clients and local authorities and provided high quality transport assessments. Due to his strong theoretical background, he has the ability to solve complex transportation problems, and has recently had the results of his masters project involving international crash experience comparisons using accident predication models published in the Transportation Research Board Journal.

Reuben specialises in using GIS as a practical and effective method of data analysis, storage and presentation. His role encompasses spatial and tabular data analysis, graphical manipulation and website development. He continually seeks new and efficient ways to analyse data and communicate information; methods include python scripting, web-based data collection and mapping, 3-D graphics, time-series animation, as well as producing maps, posters and websites. Our firm is a member of ACENZ.  Consulting engineers use knowledge gained by study, experience and practice along with judgment and creativity to solve practical problems. New Zealand Urban Design Protocol

Our firm is a signatory to the New Zealand Urban Design Protocol. The protocol is an initiative from the Ministry for the Environment (MfE). Protocol members make a commitment to promote creating quality urban design.

The International Charter for Walking

Our firm is a founding signatory to the Walk 21 International Charter for Walking signed in Melbourne September 2006.  The Charter is based on the concepts of inclusive mobility, integrated networks, less crime, promotion of walking, spaces for people, spatial planning, supported authorities and reducing road danger.

History

Started in 1996 the company has provided consulting engineering services for over 10 years.

In 1999 Steve Abley departed New Zealand for the United Kingdom and on his return in 2003 the company traded as Steve Abley Transportation Engineers. The addition of more staff prompted a name change and the company changed its name to Abley Transportation Engineers Limited on 1 October 2007.

The company has grown to a size that it now employs seven full time and a number of part time staff.  Our firm is located in Christchurch New Zealand, the gateway to the South Island, and our reputation is based on exceptionally high quality deliverables and high level thinking.

We are at the forefront of transportation planning in New Zealand.
