With considerable growth forecast for Belfast and northern Christchurch in general, the Christchurch City Council (CCC) identified the need to understand the effects an increase in population and commerce could have on transport infrastructure in the area.
Abley produced a comprehensive review of the area’s current resources and projected needs. We looked at not only how the transport network could be upgraded, but also how we could design a system that would reduce the population’s reliance on cars, how we could encourage walking, cycling and other forms of travel, and how we could reduce their need to travel so often.
The transport report we produced identified a number of both short term and long term initiatives to support the development of Belfast and northern Christchurch. The report was adopted by the CCC, and supports the allocation of funds and provides the foundation for future development in the area.
