Andrew has gained considerable experience providing technical draughting services on transportation engineering projects, working from within Christchurch City. He has experience draughting and providing design input on a multitude of project types from strategic schemes down to detailed design. Andrew has a firm understanding of the fundamental aspects of transportation design.
What made you decide to become a CAD Technician?
A passion for drawing and the desire for a career that will challenge me continuously.
What did you do before joining Abley?
I have had experience as a CAD Technician operating in other fields of engineering such as electrical, as well as experience producing design visualisations & animations.
What does a typical day in the office include?
My typical day involves assisting the decision making process with our engineers, designing road layouts and intersection designs, and keeping our clients informed of progress on their projects.
What do you enjoy most about your job?
I enjoy the opportunity to solve problems that affect everyone on a daily basis, and making our transport environment a safer place.
What’s the most challenging thing about your job?
The biggest challenge for me is working on such a wide variety of jobs and keeping everyone up to date.
What’s been your career highlight so far?
Working on the CCDU 100 days plan, as well some of the Anchor projects.
What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?
Indoor sports, snowboarding, fishing.
