Rochelle comes from a project management background where she was involved in the planning and administration of earthquake repair projects. She is also highly procedure driven, skills she developed while working as a project analyst for Statistics New Zealand on the recent 2013 Census.
What made you decide to become a financial administrator?
After several years working as part of the Canterbury rebuild projects, I developed extensive experience in the project management environment. Due to the scale of the businesses I worked for, I have limited financial project experience. The opportunity to work closely with the Finance Manager in a firm of this size and nature is a fantastic opportunity to learn and develop financial skills.
What did you do before joining Abley?
Most recently I was a construction planner in an earthquake repair program. As part of this role, I worked closely with contractors and project managers. Prior to that I was a project analyst on the most recent census, my work related to testing process changes for the collection of census information.
What do you enjoy most about your job?
The opportunity to continue to learn and grow professionally while providing positive and informative data support to our hard working team.
What has been your career highlight so far?
I have been fortunate to experience a degree of diversity in my career so far, especially since I delayed starting professional work to pursue overseas travel.
What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?
Exploring the port hills with my partner and friends on our downhill mountain bikes in summer. Escaping to the mountains with our snowboards in winter. After all that fun, returning home for relaxing night in with our fluffy, cuddly, young cats and a good quality movie. In my quieter time I enjoy some creative hobbies, mainly cross stitch and crocheting.
