Abley Auckland staff and 26,000 other Aucklanders participated in the annual Ports of Auckland Round the Bays on March 3, 2019. The run was an 8.4km race along Auckland’s scenic waterfront and the very fine weather made for an excellent morning of running. The hot weather and large crowd were some challenges facing Abley’s ten runners, but all finished the course in competitive times.
Shane’s race time of thirty-five minutes was an incredible effort and he crossed the finished line first out of the Abley team and was the 656th person to cross the line overall. The team had a competition of predicting their race times and Jo won this competition by successfully predicting her race time to be within one minute and forty-one seconds of her prediction. Abley staff ran the race in their matching Abley tops and were representing just one of a hundred plus corporate teams competing the race.
Overall, it was a fun race and everyone was rewarded with a finishing medal as they finished the course. Thanks to all staff who participated and to Abley’s social club for sponsoring the team. We can’t wait to do this all again next year!
