The 2WALKandCYCLE conference (5th biennial) is taking place in Dunedin from Tuesday 16 – Friday 19 March 2021. The Abley team are doing presentations on a range of walking and cycling topics, as follows:
Tracy Fleming will provide an overview of the Buller Walking Action Plan for Westport, Reefton and other small townships. Tracy will share the key outcomes and benefits of having a plan for walking and how the action plan has already improved the walking environment of these areas. (Abstract)
Ann-Marie Head is presenting on the pedestrian level of research completed for Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency. This will focus on a framework and tool developed to provide a more consistent approach to measuring and evaluating levels of service for pedestrians in urban areas of New Zealand. (Abstract)
Jeanette Ward is presenting on Pedestrian Network Guidance (PNG) developed for Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency, which outlines a refreshed framework that provides a best practice online guidance to be used for planning and designing walking friendly environments. This presentation will launch the PNG to the industry outlining its structure, key changes, how it integrates with international, national and local guidance and will include a snapshot of case studies with useful insights. Ben Jassin is presenting on "cycling deserts". He will highlight the key findings of cycling infrastructure analysis for all of New Zealand’s major urban areas, sharing a new way to visualise the coverage and equity of our existing cycling infrastructure and networks. (Abstract)
