Carl O’Neil and Paul Durdin recently won the AA award for ‘Best Paper’ and the award for ‘Best Practice Paper’ at the IPENZ Transportation Group Conference in Hamilton. The paper entitled ‘A fresh approach for prioritising and treating high risk curves’ was based on a road safety project commissioned by Transport for New South Wales. The project used a combination of geospatial technology and other analytical methods to identify road corridors which had a poor safety record on curves. The project represents an innovative approach to enhancing rural road safety and uses a method of identification and treatment that is consistent and thorough. We congratulate Carl and Paul on their win.
