What Charlotte has to say:

What made you decide to become a Commercial Manager?

I’m not sure I decided to become a Commercial Manager but I’ve found over time that my combination of a legal background, enjoyment of negotiation and projects and pragmatic problem solving has lead me down this path. In recent years I’ve broadened my core skills to take on wider business and core functional leadership.

What did you do before joining Abley?

I was part of the leadership team at Tait Communications.

What do you enjoy most about your job?

I’m thrilled to be a part of a growing and innovative business. The Commercial Manager role at Abley not only allows me to spend time on the day to day commercial work which I really enjoy, but also to provide broad operational leadership to our shared services, finance and client growth teams. There is a fantastic focus on a people centric culture at Abley and proactive nurturing of a positive work environment.

What is the most challenging thing about your job?

Balancing the need to manage time bound client lead deadlines, having a broad portfolio of functions to lead and having the time to get deep on some of the value adding & growth initiatives I’ve identified.  But that is also what makes it fun and interesting. Every day is different.

What has been your career highlight so far?

I’ve always loved working cross functionally and cross regionally on major projects. Working with colleagues on a global basis to support and win some iconic transportation projects in the communications industry is probably the highlight to date.

What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?

Hanging out with my kids and husband at the beach, camping, tramping, biking, generally getting outdoors with friends. When I get the chance, I like to do something creative – art, music or the movies with friends.
