Mark is a qualified Chartered Accountant, with a keen interest in management reporting, business systems and process improvement. Mark has worked in a number of commercial roles both in New Zealand and the UK, in industries as diverse as publishing and electronics manufacturing.
What made you decide to become an Accountant ?
I’ve always had a keen interest in business and financial matters and enjoy working with data to produce accurate and timely management reporting.
What did you do before joining Abley?
I was a Financial Controller for a number Christchurch based electronics manufacturers. Prior to 2007 I spent 16 years in the UK working in finance and business systems roles in the publishing & media sectors.
What do you enjoy most about your job?
The opportunity to add value to a growing business and work alongside ambition and very technically able engineering professionals. I enjoy leveraging existing and new business systems to derive efficiencies and improve decision making across the business.
What has been your career highlight so far?
Being part of the management team at Commtest Instruments (a small Christchurch electronics manufacturer) during the sales process to General Electric Inc and achieving significant benefits to the owners and the staff.
What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?
Cycling in the Port Hills on Sunday mornings, gym and lunch time runs around Hagley park. I’m a keen musician playing lead guitar in a band.
