Highfield Park is an area of land in Christchurch, between Marshlands and Redwood, which a private group of investors were looking to have rezoned from rural to residential. As part of the consent process they enlisted our help to study the impact 2200 new homes and a commercial centre in the area would have on transport infrastructure.
We looked at our client’s development, which would considerably increase the population in the area and would impact both demand on surrounding roads and on the public transport system. We considered what sections of the network would need to be upgraded to accommodate this, and prepared in-depth documentation accordingly. We also helped design the infrastructure within the new suburb in accordance with quality urban design practices.
After being referred to a hearing the application was eventually approved. The land has been rezoned and the client is now embarking on the next phase of the project.
