Abley were appointed to assist in delivering of a 1400 dwelling sub-division in the south Auckland suburb of Favona. We carried out various transportation engineering and planning tasks such as:
The main challenge involved establishing agreement on staged development density capacity, traffic modelling analysis and the respective network enhancements to accommodate the additional traffic generated without negatively impacting the current level of performance of the intersections and existing road users.
Each stage design was thoroughly reviewed and optimised as they became available. The internal road network connected to the existing road network via two new signalise intersections. Each design was agreed with Auckland Transport to enable their construction and eventual adoption.
The approved designs enabled the developer to progress the sections and internal road construction at a pace they desired whilst also maximising the density of the development one stage at a time.
